14/10/24 PSHE - No Outsiders - Along Came a Different

Image
Today in PSHE we read the book ‘Along Came a Different’ by Tom McLaughlin. In the book, the shapes all believe that they are the best shape and colour. They become very upset when a ‘different’ comes along and upsets this view. They come up with rules to keep the different shapes apart, but this just makes everyone upset. In the end some new ‘differents’ come along and show them all that being different is the best thing ever.  We loved exploring this text, which we were able to tie in with our reading about Matthew Henson in English. We had a great time making posters of the ‘differents’ to remind us of the message! Take a look below.

WB: 7/10/24 English

Image
This week in English and PSHE we have been exploring the importance of feelings and emotions and the words you can associate with them. English saw the children creating a bank of vocabulary that was centred around The Race To The Frozen North. Words such as determined, hopeful, excited and many more.   In PSHE we took these words and looked at how we can present these feelings without talking or using verbal cues.
