The children have certainly been travelling along the corridor and upstairs during their maths lessons.  They have been plotting coordinates and then creating shapes using their plotted points.

English- Planning our Howler

Image
This week, Year 4 have been hard at work planning their very own howlers.  Over the next few weeks, they will be creating a script, making a howler and filming their creations using a green screen.

French: Le carnival des animaux

Year 4 started a new topic: The carnival of the animals. They learnt then names of different animals and discovered that quite a few of them are very similar to the English. They also  listened and practised the sounds that the animals make, creating their own little rhythm using animal sounds.

RE Festival Workshop- Hajj

Today we looked at the Hajj, the Islamic pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia, which every adult Muslim must make at least once in his or her lifetime. The hajj is the fifth of the fundamental Muslim practices and institutions known as the Five Pillars of Islam. At Mecca, the pilgrims are obliged to perform several rituals, including walking seven times around the Kaʿbah shrine. About two million persons perform the hajj each year. We used a net to make our very own Ka'bah's out of paper.

English - Howlers

This term we are beginning our Harry Potter topic where we will be writing our very own Howlers!  Today, we enjoyed reading and performing Howlers from the books, thinking carefully about our voices and expression. Some of them were very frightening!

Assessment and map work

The final lesson always answers the assessment question: would you like to live in a desert? Following this, the children recapped reading four grid references on their Ordnance Survey Maps. Fabulous as always year 4.
