What is the climate like in the Lake District?
This week, the children recapped their understanding of weather and climate. Weather is what we get everyday and it can change many times during that day. Whereas, climate is measured over a long period of time. It is also the weather you would expect to find in a certain location. Example: you would expect the climate near the Equator to be hot.
The children then used this knowledge to help them understand how the climate in the Lake District is milder in the winter and cooler in the summer because of the warm air brought in by the Gulf Stream. This climate is not great for growing crops so they use the land to breed sheep. They also utilise the wind and rivers to make electricity.
