RE Day - Rituals

Image
Today in RE we explored the concept of rituals. We looked at the Easter story and discussed how Christians celebrate and remember Jesus. We looked at the Paschal Candle as a symbol, and thought about the rituals where it is used to symbolise Jesus. Finally, we made our own Paschal Candles to take home!

French: writing a sports diary and creating a poster

Image
Over the last few weeks,Year 4 revised different types of sports and the days of the week. They used this knowledge to create a sports diary, which they then used to ask each other questions. They also looked at a few French Olympic athletes and found out a little about them, and then created their own poster about their favourite Sports.

Easter Raffle

Image
The children worked so hard on their persuasive letters to get eggs for the Easter Raffle, and we just wanted to say a massive thank you for all of your contributions and for sharing their letters with others. Altogether we collected over 150 Easter eggs which we are now going to raffle off in order to raise funds for our school library!  The raffle tickets will be on sale Monday after school, before and after school on Tuesday and on Wednesday morning. Tickets are £1 each and the raffle will take place on Wednesday 2nd April.

What are the threats to deserts?

Image
Deserts are becoming bigger due to desertification. This happens when man overuses the land causing the ground to become hard and erode. This is caused by overgrazing, over farming, climate change and lack of precipitation as well as an increasing population that are trying to live off the land and use the lands resources.  The children were introduced to seven reasons, they then had to rank the reasons from the biggest impact to the smallest impact. Some very interesting discussions indeed.

Grow Gurnard Workshop

Image
A big thank you to Jane and all of the parents who joined us for the Grow Gurnard workshop today. We enjoyed learning about the plans for Gurnard and thinking about food miles and where our food comes from. We created detailed drawings and made painted banners to highlight the importance of recognising where our food grows.
