In computing, Year 4 have been learning about networks. We learned how information is transferred through networks (devices joined together) and that the internet is actually just a network of networks. We also learned that the World Wide Web is a part of the internet and that they are not the same thing.

Deserts

During their first lesson, the children were introduced to their new journey studying Deserts.  They began their journey recapping prior knowledge and playing ‘Where in the world?’  From there, they identified what a biome is. Only a few children knew what a biome was. The rest of the lesson looked at 6 biomes and their definitions. From there the children matched pictures to definitions and then they completed their lesson assessment.

RE Day - Remembering (Janmashtami)

Image
Today’s RE Day has focussed on the concept of remembering. We talked about what we remember and why, and how we show our remembering through celebrations and events. We talked about Christians and how Christmas is a celebration of the birth of Jesus. We then compared this to the Hindu festival of Jamashtami, which celebrates the birth of Krishna. We had some fascinating discussions and considered how the concept applies to many areas of our own lives.

Year 4 revised colours and numbers. They then looked at different adjectives and noticed the difference between them and when to use them.  They then used a helpmat to write their own descriptive sentences about different characters from the fairytale, making sure they used the correct form of the adjective.
